Divine Comedy, The - Maryland Electric Rainstorm

Artist: Divine Comedy, The
Album: Unknown
Title: Maryland Electric Rainstorm

Amery was bored, as he
Was usually in the countryside:
He'd walk alone, reciting poe,
Returning home through the failing light.
One day, he'd gone some miles along
A new road, when on an old man's bad advice
He left to cross the woods, but just
Got totally lost, and then

The maryland electric rainstorm broke
Over his head, making him wet, upset, then
The maryland electric rainstorm broke everything
Soaked through his skin, into his heart and soul

Suddenly, no more trees¡º
Amery, to his great relief,
Could see his way through stacks of hay,
Through wind and rain... then surprisingly
He heard the song "les sanglots longs
Des violons" coming from nearby¡º
A female tone he did not know,
All husky and low...
While the lightning split the sky

"who's there?", she cried¡º"don juan", he lied.
A shriek of delight came back through the rain,
A small white hand took his one and
Their friendship began
With the maryland electric rainstorm high
Over their heads making them wet
Forget about the maryland electric rainstorm
Breaking everything, making them clean
Freedom is the maryland electric rainstorm
High over your heads making you wet
Forget about the maryland electric rainstorm
Breaking everything making you clean
Freeing your heart and soul
